The Process of Receiving a Crown

During the first visit, your tooth is examined to assess its accurate condition. Sometimes a root canal is performed if your tooth requires it. Then, we start the process of making your crown. Between your appointments, we send your impressions to a lab, where your crown can be made. We use a digital scanner to take images of your teeth, which eliminates the need for a silicone mold. Our in-office milling unit then fabricates your custom crown. Many patients opt for same-day dentistry crowns because of the attendant risks and limitations of temporary crowns. Custom crowns through labs take time to make (sometimes up to 2 weeks), and you must be careful with a temporary crown so it doesn’t break between appointments.
